Exploring Your Spirituality

I just had an interesting conversation with a friend last night about a fashion trend and came across the idea of spiritual experimentation. Spiritual experimentation may sound like such a high level concept, but I tried diluting the esoteric quality conveyed by the two words as much as possible to her. With such a liking for the duality of the spiritual and the physical, I thought I would start delving into this dynamic by relating it to the idea of spiritual experimentation.

As human beings, we are all, at least in my opinion, social experiments if you think about it. We have such a mindset of studying the patterns throughout history with the goal of finding those that made some successful at whatever it is you want to do, whether that be something as broad as developing better conversational skills or as focus and pinpointed as developing a business model for a company focused on building medical devices. While we may find commonality between the face value of what these people bring to the table, we sometimes fail to realize the personal style that is unique to each and every one us human beings and how personal style took those successful figures before us to that next level. It was not what they did but rather who they were that made us all take notice. The differentiating factor simply comes down to image; not necessarily your physical image but your spiritual image.

Now a lot of you may be asking, "What the hell do you mean by spiritual image?" I will respond to all of you that I mean your "attractive force" to draw in various aspects of life and have them gravitate around you (no pun intended here necessarily). This all stems back to one of my favorite concepts: The Law of Attraction. Before reading on any further, I highly suggest you all to read up on the subject a little so that you better grasp the concepts I will discuss and analyze.

Your spiritual self is the self which can attract various types of forces in the universe. Therefore, your image is whatever you attract to yourself. Now this may seem like the norm and nothing really is different from what you thought before. However, I would like to point out that you actually have control of your spiritual image more so than you do with your physical image. This is because you are subject to the constraints of the physical world whereas with the spiritual world, everything is left up to your own control. It's a tough demarcation to comprehend due to the forces and mentality that is imposed upon us from the physical world, but I promise you that if you try to understand/decode this fine line between the spiritual and physical, you will realize that you have missed out on such an interesting aspect of life.

Now getting back to spiritual experimentation.. it is essentially the idea of going through life's course and making the necessary adjustments as you see fit. You dictate what comes in and out of your life; it really is that simple. In doing so, you are experimenting with what it is that you want to absorb and therefore become what it is that you want.

Everything seems easy enough but you have to understand that spiritual experimentation isn't just something you do just for fun but rather for a REAL purpose. Understand that if you go into this process without a true purpose in mind, you will not achieve results and be enlightened. When it comes to spirituality, there is nothing that isn't purposeful - every move is calculated. Every move should in fact be calculated anyways due to your motivation behind the entire movement. At first, it will take time adapting to this new realm of thinking and acting, but with a bit of practice, you will find that the "duration" of your spiritual experiments will shorten as you will start to gain expertise in the matter.

As is with life, you need to ask yourself why when it comes to tampering with the spiritual world. Why did you go to college? Why do you go to the gym? Why do have you an irregular sleeping pattern? Some of these sorts of questions will be subjective whereas others will be objective. The same goes for the question: Why do you involve yourself with the spiritual world and "spiritually experiment"? The answer, for most, will likely be that they want to induce a positive change in themselves and from there, the reasoning becomes more personalized and subjective.

Who you become as a result of spiritual experimentation is just another facet to your self. Self, in of itself, is an interesting mixture of various different things and I won't go into that right now. But you have to realize what it is that the spiritual does to your self. Self goes under transformation every single day as a result of taking in new information and processing it. This can be seen as the routinely daily transformation that occurs on a micro level. This is also tied down to the physical world. From that, you can see that physical experimentation leads to smaller results. Spiritual experimentation leads to transformations that take usually a longer period of time but results in grander transformations on a macro level.

Image is something that we all micromanage in the physical world. We are all prone to the pressures that come from without. Realize now that you can adhere more to either the spiritual image or physical image. From my prior experience, I know that you will find something unique about each image that you will want to incorporate to your image as a whole. Just remember this: the key difference between your spiritual image and physical image is that latter stems from within you and is portrayed outwards whereas the former is the collection of the outside world and is an internal reflection of self
